Before I start, I want to reiterate the fact that pain is NEVER normal. If your feet or ankles hurt, there is usually a reason. Some common reasons may include poor shoes, infections, injuries or strained or torn tendons or ligaments. Understanding and fixing the cause of the pain, or making adjustments to alleviate the pain over time is often possible. Victoria’s police union boss has been cleared of any involvement in leaks about a 2003 underworld murder investigation.Victoria Police has dropped an internal investigation by its Ethical Standards Department (ESD) into Police Association president Brian Rix.The development has prompted attacks on the police watchdog, the Office of Police Integrity (OPI), over powers allowing it to hold public hearings exposing police officers before they are charged with any criminal wrongdoing.The clearing of Insp Rix comes 15 months after he was publicly named by the OPI as allegedly being part of a chain of leaks that tipped off Detective Sergeant Peter Lalor that he was being investigated over his alleged involvement in a murder.Detective Sergeant Lalor is accused of giving male prostitute and accused rapist Shane Chartres-Abbott’s address to his killer.The sensational OPI hearings resulted in former police assistant commissioner Noel Ashby, police union secretary Paul Mullett and former police media director Stephen Linnell facing a range of criminal charges.The union has consistently defended Insp Rix and Mr Mullett and attacked the OPI.Police Association secretary designate Greg Davies on Tuesday said the case against Insp Rix “vindicated our position”.”The irony is not lost on anyone that when the force decided they would conduct an investigation it was done with as much media fanfare as possible,” Senior Sergeant Davies told AAP.”When he (Insp Rix) is cleared of any wrongdoing a private letter is delivered to him.”There quite clearly was never any evidence to prove what Dr (Greg) Lyon, QC, said he would prove at commencement of the public OPI hearings … a chain of leaks and a smoking gun.”Police chief commissioner Christine Nixon denied Insp Rix’s reputation was ruined and said the ESD had decided there was insufficient evidence to pursue the matter.”It was a process that took place outside and separately from Victoria Police, that was conducted by the Office of Police Integrity,” she told ABC Radio.Mr Ashby, who will face court again in May, said those involved in public OPI hearings such as Insp Rix and himself had their “names dragged through the mud” before any wrongdoing was proved.”He has been cleared but his reputation’s destroyed, he has been placed under significant scrutiny and his family’s been placed under significant stresses,” he told AAP.”It goes against what most Australians think people deserve, which is a fair go.”A report tabled in parliament in February last year recommended Ms Nixon take disciplinary action against Mr Rix.

Both the coach and the trainee need patience to overcome the physical and mental challenges of goaltending.The goalie must never neglect the puck during a game. In fact, the goaltender has control over the puck more than any other player in the game. It is this kind of control that comes accompanied with responsibility. It is often said the fate of the team depends upon the goalie, and more importantly how mentally tough he is.While coaching goalies, it would be hard to over-emphasize the need for unwavering focus on the puck. It is at these times of complete focus goalies are able to make that unbelievable save which actually influences in a positive manner the whole team. How many times have you seen a goalie rob a shooter and then have his team go down the ice and score. On the flip side, when save is not made, a different kind of mental training is required. The goalie needs to bounce back quickly and the team needs to have the confidence that their goalie will bounce back. A great goaltender needs to know how to instantly re-focus on the task at hand. With as little as one session with a mental training coach, young goalies can learn these focusing techniques.Because of the pivotal influence the netminder can bear upon the rest of the team, is why, when coaching goalies, a great focus is placed on the psychological. The goaltenders need to be taught the supplementary benefits that a mental control of the game could bring not only for the goalie, but also to the overall performance of the entire team.Of course, the physical side of the game is of great importance to goalies, but it is surprising how often the mental side is ignored. This is a shame, not only because the mental side of the game is so important but because mental training can be done anywhere at anytime. A goalie can work on his game everyday, not just at practice.In the end, it takes quite some experience and a certain measure of talent for a goaltender to consistently make spectacular saves similar to those we sometimes witness in the NHL. However, if coaches begin to introduce their young goalies to this type of training, the goaltenders will learn to focus all of their mind and body on the game. A YU grad student is hailed as a hero after jumping into frigid water to aid a woman and her dog near Aspen, Colorado. Sandy Krohn, 27, a student at Yeshiva University, was hiking with his friends mother, Nancy Baumann, her sister-in-law Heidi Baumann and their three dogs during a family outing.Heidi Baumann&8217;s black Labrador, Glover, went into a small stream and started struggling against the 3 feet current. When his owner went to check on him, she slipped in and both got sucked into an underground culvert that was flowing with icy water. &8220;I really thought I was going to drown, and it was pitch-black in there,&8221; said Heidi Baumann, 50. She somehow latched onto a wall about 200 feet in.Nancy Baumann, 51, asked Krohn to help. He jumped into the water and swam to Heidi Baumann and then called for Glover. The pooch managed to get back to them and all three waited for rescuers inside the pipe. &8220;[Krohn] said, &8216;I can&8217;t let you drown,&8217;&8221; Heidi Baumann recalled. &8220;He stayed with me the whole time. He just held my hand and kept me very calm. He&8217;s an amazing person.&8221;After more than 30 minutes in 3 feet of cold water, volunteer firefighters hauled them out using ropes.
