Back to UGG

It’s that time of Fall again: the sounds of dragging heels, buses rumbling by, pencils being sharpened, and parents breathing a sigh of relief. In some parts of certain towns there are also the sounds of binge drinking and pointless philosophical debates. Yep, it’s time to go back to school!

Regardless of whether you love school, hate it, or are no longer a part of it, the end of summer heralds a turning point in our daily activities. Instead of camping and bike rides, we start playing board games and drinking tea. It also heralds the famous back-to-school shopping spree!

Now, if you’re like me, you start shopping for events after they’ve already started. So in my world, back-to-school shopping can last well into November. (At which point holiday shopping starts, which lasts until Valentine’s Day if you do it right.)

I think the perfect back-to-school shopping endeavor is UGG: keep your toes warm, easy to slug on for that horrid 8am class, and perfect for curling up with your Tummymint tea and homemade zucchini bread.

UGGs on the Go!

However, I do find that I have to adjust my mindset when getting dressed in the morning. If I want a skirt, I better wear leggings underneath. Skin tight jeans are out and layers are a must. Boots are awkward, heavy shoes can be dangerous, and sandals are just asking for disaster. (Granted, there are probably those who are able to ride a bike in just about anything. I, however, am one of the gifted few who needs to plan against potential clumsiness.) After careful consideration it seems that moccasins, ballet flats, or sneakers are my safest options.

I still want to wear cute shoes, though. After perusing our newer UGGs I came up with the solution: the UGG Retreat. It’s a cute little moccasin-style slip on but with different tread than the UGG Dakota or Scalloped Moc Slippers. Best of all it comes in the best color ever: Go Wine! It’s a lovely purpley wonderfulness with the best name one could dream of.

The best part about the UGG moccasin styles is that they are lined with grade-A sheerling to naturally wick away moisture and keep your feet the perfect temperature. Which is perfect for me, as a woman who generally…what’s the word? Glistens with exertion. (You know, since apparently the gentler sex doesn’t sweat.)

All in all, I’m pretty excited about getting dressed in the mornings now. Lots of fun layers with scarves and leggings, and an adorable pair of slip on UGGs! What could be better?

The Sky is Falling

Once there was a man from Qi, who was worried about falling sky and sinking earch.
A friend, worried about his worrying, came to calm him.

He said to the man, “The sky is all air, nothing but air. As you inhale and exhale, and breathe air into the sky all day long, there is no need to worry about falling sky.”

The man then asked, “So the sky is just air. Then what about the Sun, the Moon and the stars falling from the sky?”

He replied, “These are only twinkling objects of air. Even if they fall, they won’t hurt you.”

The man continued, “What about sinking earth?”

He replied, “The earch is made up of solid blocks of earth, which filled up all spaces. There are no empty spaces. If you stamp you feet on the ground all day, the earth will not sink.”

Hearing this, the man is very happy. The friend is very happy.

The Moon Lady

I do not know from what time that I started to have a crush on the mysterious moon.

She dims or shines; waxes or wanes thus teaches us that nothing is perfect. She’s just pure and divine, elegant and sacred. I like sitting at my balcony and looking up to it at peaceful nights.Sometimes, she’s alone while other times she’s accompanied by stars or just a single star.In rainy or cloudy days, she just hide herself away.

Look back to days of my childhood, moon unveiled herself fully, I,with my siblings, run after fireflies frolicly, filled small transparent bottles with caught fireflies and shared the story that they would make one blind if they came into one’s nostril. We grabbed rush-leaf-fans from our granny or grandpa and fanned for them… I loved Fairy tales and beautiful starry sky and never knew that I would grow up one day, never knew that I would have to work one day. More awfully, the little girl then I was, never knew there would be annoying traffic jams and damned computers. She never knew she was gonna to live in a small birdcage and be melancholy all day long.

I miss those nights with beautiful moonlight,I miss the happy little girl, I miss those transitory happy moments. Well, I’m short of words to express my feelings now,it’s just undescribable. Now I’d better turn back to the moon, she has shyness of a young girl and a tenderness of a mother, uses her light threads to sew beautiful dreams for people who are lost and lonely.

Duke and the Wheelwright

Duke Huan was reading a book in the hall. Wheelwright Pian, who had been chiseling a wheel in the courtyard below, set down his tools and climbed the stairs to ask Duke Huan:

“may I ask what words are in the book Your Grace is reading?”

“The classic of a famous sage.” the Duke responded.

“Is he still alive?”

“Oh no, he is long dead”

“Then you’ve been reading the dregs left over by a dead man, isn’t it?”

Duke Huan said, ” How dare a wheelwright to have opinions about the book I read! If you can explain yourself, I’ll let it pass. Otherwise, it’s death!”

W’heelwright Pian said, “In my case I see things in terms of my own work. I chisel at a wheel. If I go too slow, the chisel slides and does not stay put. If I hurry, it jams and doesn’t move properly. When it is just right, I can feel it in my hand and respond to it from my heart. I can explain this to my son, but I cannot pass on the skills to him. That is why at seventy years old, I am still making wheels. The sage who couldn’t pass down his wisdom is already dead; and that’s why I say the book you’re reading is merely the dregs of a dean man.”

Mark the Boat for a Dropped Sword

Long, long ago, in Chunqu Dynasty of ancient China, a man from Chu state dropped his beautiful well-set sword into the water because of the shake from the boat while he was in the middle of the river .”Oh, God.” He cried in dear pity. “What can I do ?” On hearing that, the boatman replied calmly “It doesn’t matter. I’m coming to dive for it.” But the man from Chu hesitated for a while and said “We can’t do that because the water is rapid and deep. But I have a marvelous idea.” With these words, he took out his knife and made a mark on one side of the boat where his sword was dropped. “Well, everything is done! ” When the boat stopped at the opposite bank, the man undressed himself immediately and dove into the water for his sword from the very place where he had made the mark. Of course, he got nothing. Finally he appeared in the water and murmured: “What’s happening? why can’t I find my sword from the water just under the mark? ” Laughter burst from the passengers.

Well, let’s end the story with the conclusion: Man should not stick stubbornly to his own opinion, instead he should make changes according to specific conditions.

Ugg Stripe Cable Knit Boots

Ugg Classic Tall Stripe Cable Knit Boots combine UGG shearling on the inside with the cosiness of your favorite knitted sweater on the outside. These are two great things together. But honestly, I was not sure what to say about the Ugg Classic Tall Stripe Cable Knit Boots . Call it writer’s block.

Ugg Classic Tall Stripe Cable Knit Boots

So I turned to my friends. “What should I write about this Knitted UGG boot?” I ask. Here are the responses, not really edited, to the Ugg Classic Tall Striped Cable Knit Boot:

“Finally, a way to look like a zebra without killing one.”

“These would be great seaside or just around the house.”

“The perfect way to camouflage your house arrest/alcohol monitoring anklet.”

“Hmm. They go great with your Dr. Seuss hat!”

“Making one’s feet look bigger makes one’s bum look smaller!” (interesting theory…)

“Let me ask my daughter”

“I went shopping over the weekend and saw some women trying on the Cat in the Hat UGGs at Nordstroms! You know those ones you were asking me about? She was wearing one of those long summer dresses that are popular this year.” (from Los Angeles)

“Striped sweater knit boots will keep you warm and toasty on winter nights.” (very nice, Abigail!)

“Reminds me of my university scarf. Which is my favorite scarf btw” (Dr Croc’s father)

“Were you extremely thin and constantly hounded by friends and family to gain weight, you would benefit from the well known fact that horizontal stripes make you look wider. Throw these striped Uggs on with some boyfriend jeans and a Baby Gap hoodie and voila! You’re normal.”

“I can imagine Sienna Miller turning up in these”

“Where is Waldo?”

Alas, my friends are mostly hecklers. From this exposition, I can safely conclude that the Ugg Classic Tall Stripe Cable Knit Boots will:

Help you start conversation
Gain attention
Keep your feet warm
And possibly be much more fashion forward than your friends can understand!

Yi Shot Down Nine Suns

The legend says, thousands of years ago in Yao dynasty, there were ten Suns shining in the sky at the same time. The burning heat singed the crops and trees. The people were suffering a lot because of starvation and many people died of hunger. In the meantime, a lot of monsters and atrocious birds began to riot introducing illness and threat to human beings. Yayu was a very atrocious monster, that ran very fast. One of the beasts was called Chisel Teeth. Its buckteeth looked like chisels sticking out of its jaw about three feet in length. Nine Babies was one of the monsters with nine heads. It could send jets of water or fire from its mouth. And the Gale was a ferocious bird with large wings. When it flew over, houses were terribly damaged because of the great shock wave from its wings. Fengshi was the monster of pigs. The Cultivated Snake was of course a snake but it could gulp an elephant at a time and it took it three years to let out the bones. So these ferocious monsters troubled people badly.

In order to help the people get out from under, Emperor Yao ordered Yi to conquer the monsters and those suns. So Yi set out with his bow, arrows, sword and spear. The hero won each fight. He killed the Chisel Teeth in the field in the south of China, the Nine Babies in the ominous water in the north of China, and he killed the Gale bird in the east of China with an arrow fastened with string. The huge snake was cut into pieces at the Dongting lake, and the monster of pigs was also caught in the forest of mulberry in the center of China. In time he shot down nine of the ten suns. One of them was left serving for people ever since.

The whole country praised Yi for his heroic deeds and admired him very much.

Bian Heh’s Jade

In the Spring and Autumn Period, Bian Heh in the Chu state got a rough jade on Mount Chu. He decided to present the valuable jade to the emperor to show his official loyalty to his sovereign, Chuli. Unluckily, the jade was judged as a common stone by the court jadders, which made Emperor Chuli very angry, and had Bian Heh’s left foot cut down cruelly.

After the enthronement of the new emperor Chuwu, Bian Heh decided to submit the jade to Chuwu to clarify matters. Emperor Chuwu also had it checked by the jadders in the court. And the conclusion resulted in the same fact that Bian Heh lost the other foot.

After the death of Emperor Chuwu, the prince Chuwen was enthroned, that gave the poor Bian Heh a gleam of light of proving his clear conscience. However, the moment he thought of what he had incurred, he couldn’t help crying beside a hill. He could not stop crying for several days and nights; he almost wept his heart out and even blood was dropping from his eyes. And it happened to be heard by the emperor in the court. He ordered his men to find out why he was so sad. Bian Heh sobbed out “Call a spade a spade. Why was a real jade mistaken as a plain stone again and again? Why was a loyal man thought faithless time and time?” Emperor Chuwen was touched by Bian Heh’s deep grief and ordered the jadders to open the jade to have a close look. To their astonishment, in the rough coat, the pure content was sparkling and translucent. Then it was carefully cut and polished fine and at last the jade became a rare treasure of the state of Chu. In memory of the faithful man Bian Heh, the emperor named the jade by Bian Heh. And so the term “Bian’s Jade” came into being.
